Gentle Mates Win the Boston Major

At long last, Gentle Mates have their breakthrough trophy. In the Boston Major Grand Final, the Mates defeated Team Vitality 4-2 in front of a packed Agganis Arena, becoming the first Major champions of the 2026 RLCS season and confirming what we've been hinting at for two years: this roster was always one trophy away from elite status.

The Grand Final

Two French rosters, one trophy. Vitality jumped out to an early 2-1 lead, but Gentle Mates clawed back game four and never looked rattled again. The final three games were defined by Mates' positional discipline — possession game, controlled rotation, and ruthless conversion of the few clean chances they generated. Vitality were the more mechanically aggressive team. Mates were the smarter one.

The bigger story: Karmine Corp's sluggish split

For the first time in over a year, Karmine Corp had a regional split without a win. They came into Boston as the third EU seed and finished 9-12th in the playoffs after losing to Ninjas in Pyjamas in the upper bracket and FUT Esports in the lower.

It's the first time in over a year their consistency has wobbled, and it arrives with a Paris home Major just three months away. The pressure level ahead of Paris just doubled.

NA's middle-tier ceiling

Shopify Rebellion's run ended at 5-6th, NRG bowed out at 9-12th. Neither team made the upper bracket finals. For all the optimism after Copenhagen, the Boston result is a reminder that NA's gap to the EU top tier — while not permanent — is still real.

Spacestation Gaming, weirdly, were NA's best finisher at 7-8th. Watch their second-split scrim block.

M0nkey M00n's Twisted Minds debut

Quietly one of the most interesting subplots of the weekend: Evan "M0nkey M00n" Rogez's first international event with Twisted Minds went better than expected. TM finished 5-6th, lost their Major bracket exit in a tight series, and looked like a team building toward something real for the rest of the season.

The Twisted Minds story is just starting.

Top 8

  1. Gentle Mates — EU
  2. Team Vitality — EU
  3. Ninjas in Pyjamas — EU
  4. Manchester City Esports — EU
  5. Twisted Minds — MENA
  6. Shopify Rebellion — NA
  7. Spacestation Gaming — NA
  8. FUT Esports — NA

The state of the season

  • Gentle Mates lead EU points, just ahead of Vitality and Karmine Corp.
  • Karmine Corp need a Paris response. They're still Worlds-bound, but the narrative around them just shifted.
  • NA's top of the standings remains Shopify Rebellion.
  • MENA's contender picture is reshuffling — Twisted Minds inserting themselves at the top.
  • The Paris Major in May is now the most loaded second-Major storyline since the post-League-Play reboot.

Three months until Paris. Buckle in.
